JAKE-3 was saved  from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine  JAKE-3 is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 3 January 2017 and at the time of rescue in February 2020 weighed around 77 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.

JAKE was adopted in March 2020, however, was returned on 15 November 2020 as he has started to nip at the children and his friends. He doesn't seem to listen to the family and this behaviour is making them uneasy and so, quite rightfully they feel it is best to return him to the rescue so a more suitable home can be found.

The family had said he had started to get protective and with kids running round was too much for him.

He has put on quite a bit of weight and so I definitely need a family that is going to get him out for walks and runs - GSDs are high energy dogs and they don't slow down until they are 7-8 and even then if they have nothing going on with their joints they can still be high energy dogs.
I would really like to get this handsome boy a home very soon - its so stressful, for him and me as I get no sleep with the whining and crying and its so hard just not being able to explain.
He needs an alpha family, active, not just a backyard to entertain himself in and he needs someone that understands that GSDs are naturally protective and if they start showing any protective signs then they need to be taught that this is not necessary.
JAKE-3 arrived at the rescue on Tuesday, 25th February, he is living in a kennel and settled in great. He loves to talk when he see's me and tells me all about how he is feeling, he enjoys going outside in his run and playing with his neighbours through the fence. He is a very social boy, who would make a great family addition.
He is a a fun active boy who needs a family that will take him on lots of adventures, walks, treks, hikes - take him places he can explore, take in the sights and smells the world has to offer. Training is critical for all new dogs when they join their families, not just for obedience but so that he can learn what is expected from him, boundaries and his new home rules. It is beneficial for the family to train him so that everyone can learn each others personalities and body language.
Jake-3 I believe would make an excellent family member, he is fun, friendly, affectionate, responsive and just an all round wonderful boy with a fantastic personality.
All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed.
All dogs are fed  Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison.    Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.
JAKE-3 is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.
This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.
