About RUBY-1 - $300
RUBY-1 was saved with her three siblings from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. RUBY-1 is spayed, rabies core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 29 May 2019 and at the time of rescue in the end of August 2019, weighed around 10.00 pounds, bu has obviously grown since then. The shelter has a breed listing of Retriever / Hound Mix, however, we have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
RUBY-1 is a puppy and would be best suited to a family who has another dog or other animals and be willing to ensure he has lots of socialization with other dogs and is willing to take training very seriously. She will be coming up to the age where she will be teething and chewing on anything and everything. A patient family who understands she is a baby and needs to learn and knows that having a puppy is a LOT of WORK.
RUBY since being at the rescue has been doing great, she has gained some much needed weight and obviously grown and looks like she is going to be a big, strong girl. She is going to need an active family who has the lifestyle that can keep her not just mentally stimulated and of course physically active as she grows. She is fun and loving and loves playing, wrestling and chasing with the other dogs and pups. She uses the dog door to go out and play and do her business, but she doesn't know to let you know she wants to go outside and so house training is to be expected. She has not been around children since being at the rescue, but I have no doubt that if treated with respect and gently and given her space when she needs it there will be no problems at all. She is a puppy and the family and environment she grows up in will mold her behaviour and personality.
RUBY-1 is a hound mix and it is very important that you are familiar, or make yourself familiar with the breed, although, as a mix she might not have any or all of the traits of a hound, there is a good chance she will and it is imperative that you are aware and comfortable with the hound characteristics.
WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW SHE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK.
ROXY-1 is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $300. A $100 will be applied if adopting two pups / dogs.
This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.
