TESSE was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services and it soon became apparent that she had distemper. She was taken to a distemper veterinary specialist and survived. She made a great recovery and apart from having bad teeth, which is a side-affect from the distemper, but a small price to pay for beating the disease she has done great.
TESSE is a quiet girl, she doesn't get involved of the hustle and bustle of the other dogs, but tends to sit back and watch from a distance, if there is a human around she will be close by, enjoying the love and attention, or is just happy to hang out beside them watching the world go by.
TESSE does great in a car and would be a great travel companion. She doesn't like the leash, but with a bit more practice she would be ok and would enjoy nice long walks to different places or maybe some hiking or walks along the beach.
TESSE would benefit from some basic and advanced training with her new family, although she is well mannered training helps to form the bonds that are needed and helps to establish boundaries and learn personalities and expectations.
TESSE does have one downside in that when she is on one side of a fence or gate and anyone is on the other, she barks continuously and could be perceived as aggressive. I have no idea where she got this from, but it is only when someone is on the other side of the fence. When everyone is on the same side, she is a complete love bug. It might have just been living with the dogs and them barking at people and she has just escalated. I do not believe she is aggressive, but it can look intimidating to anyone that doesn't know her. This would be something that would be good to work on.
TESSE has been spayed, rabies, lepto vaccine, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and is micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 11 November 2012 and weighs around 70 pounds.
TESSE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $200
