SKI was saved from Dallas Animal Services and had been diagnosed as having heart-worm disease.
He has since been treated for heart-worm disease and did great on his recovery with no problems at all. He has been back amongst the pack and back to his larger than life way. SKI is super handsome, loving affectionate big boy He weighs around 85 pounds and is full of life.
SKI has been abused and initally did not like being touched around the neck and collar, he has no problems with this now, however, caution is to be taken and not to grab him suddenly to avoid any upset or fear in him.
SKI has been to adoption events and just loves to be loved on, he will gladly lie down and present his belly for people to rub for him. SKI is strong and doesn't know his strength yet, so when walking him, it is important that he is under control at all times.
SKI does tend to "mouth" a lot and although he doesn't "bite" down, he could easily hurt someone. This MUST be a priority to be worked out of him and it taken very seriously. Although some people might find it fun and affectionate, if he did it to the wrong person, it could be seen as a bite.
SKI is aged at 12-18mths and he is still a LOT of Puppy. He really needs an experienced GSD person / family who understands that they need to be his alpha, someone who me he can look up to and respect - without respect SKI will not listen and will do his own thing. SKI is a very smart dog, very active and as mentioned strong.
SKI will do great with an active family who can understand his needs and be able to give him both they physical and equally as important the mental stimulation to keep him good shape - both body and mind, which is very important for the health and happiness of the GSD.
SKI is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.
