REBA was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care and Control. She has who we believe to be a brother, DAYTONA.
REBA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, lepto vaccine, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 20 April 2014 and at time of rescue she weighed around 54 pounds.
REBA when first arrived at the rescue was very shy, she stuck close by her big brother, DAYTONA. She gained her confidence by following his lead. She would come up to me and push her head under my hand gently to get her head scratched. Now, after a few months here, she has gained a lot of confidence with the other dogs and although still can be cautious she is happy instigating play and running around chasing and being chased. She will come up to me confidently and get all her loving and affection, she loves have her ears scratched and belly rubbed.
With people she doesn't know she will observe them and also observe them with the other dogs, but when she is confident they are ok and can be trusted she will go up to them for lots of deserved love and affection.
Our volunteers came over and took her for a walk to see what she was like on the leash, we had been told by the shelter that she wouldn't walk on a leash and was very fearful. She didn't like the leash and did take some time to walk on it, we took DAYTONA out with her and she got a lot better, when she was comfortable after a while, we brought DAYTONA back in so that she could get used to being without him around all the time. She did great, but this is clearly a work in progress and it will take time and patience from her new family who will have to understand that she will need that extra work.
REBA is a very shy girl who does take some time to warm up and feel that she can trust. She will come up to me and push her head under my hand so that she can get her ears scratched and then of course her belly rubbed. When she first came to rescue she was very scared and stayed very close to DAYTONA, however, over time she has got more comfortable with the other dogs and is ok him not being in her sight, but does still act more confident with him around.
REBA would benefit an active family that has the time to spend with him to work on training and bonding and be able to take her to lots of different places so that he can enjoy all the different, sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. This will of course be when she has gained confidence and would be best going to quieter places so that she can get used to being in different environments.
REBA is very sweet and affectionate and deserves a family that can give her the love and happiness that this stunning boy desires.
REBA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.

REBA is currently located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine, however, we post in states along the east coast and Canada as this gives our precious saved souls more exposure and once adopted, we are able to save more dogs from the kill shelters in Texas that get 3 days before they are killed
