JJETTA was saved from her previous owner planning to have her killed. She had been left in their yard and neglected resulting in horrendous weight-loss.
JETTA came to rescue and did great, she started to gain weight slowly, which was expected with her being so malnourished. JETTA is very affectionate and gets on great with other dogs.
JETTA was recently adopted to a family living in Allentown, PA. However, it has transpired that JETTA has a high prey drive for cats and injured one of their dear cats.
The family doesn't think it is safe or fair on the cats, JETTA or themselves and so we are looking to find her a CAT FREE home.
This is what they have to say about JETTA:
Hi Jen, I thought I would send some info about Jetta that we have observed. Like a dating profile of sorts! Here it is;
Jetta walks beautifully on a leash no pulling and right at your knee, sits patiently for meals and treats and takes her treats quite gently, very nice house manners, housebroken, quiet, sleeps through the night, calm, responds to corrections immediately example: no and off, raising your voice is not needed, good in her crate (will curl up for a nap with her blankets), loves squeaky toys, will initiate play, wags her booty and gives the best kisses!
The only undesirable behavior is she will clean up poop in the yard before I do and of course her high prey drive with cats.
Her stools are firming up nicely. We are finishing her course of flagyl and continuing her low residue kibble. Her urinalysis came back perfect! I plan on having the GI panel blood work drawn on Sat. Hoping all is normal there. It will help to rule out other disorders or point to how to help her best. My thinking is she may have some sort of bowel inflammation that is mild but that the stresses of transport , a new home and pack caused a flare up and it is settling down.
She helped herself to the living room sofa which I try to keep off limits to the animals but she looked like such a princess so sleek and shiny all I did was take pictures! lol
As you can tell the family clearly love her and it is breaking their heart having to do this, but we all feel it is the best decision.
They are willing to meet up with potential families so that they can meet this beautiful girl and be sure it is a perfect fit. We want to keep the additional stress to a minimal for JETTA and hope we can find her perfect family soon.
JETTA would love a relatively active family who can take her on nice long walks / hikes and visiting people and places. She is a great girl, who unfortunately doesn't like cats!
JETTA is spayed, rabies, up to date on her shots, heart-worm tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She had loose stool on arrival at her new home, which is quite common for dogs being on transport for 2-3 days with the upset and change of food, however, the families vet thought it could be something more as noted in the message above. She still has a good amount of weight to gain, but this takes time when dogs have lost such a vast amount of weight as their stomachs do shrink.
I feel a bland diet, pro-biotics and time to adjust and she will be fine! She will come with all medical records of course.
