FANNY was saved from Animal Care Services, San Antonio within hours of she and her siblings being due to be killed (Faye and Maximus, waiting for adoption at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, as well.).
FANNY's date of birth is estimated as 25 May 2013 FANNY has been living in a foster home in Plano, Texas since she was 18 months to help her acclimate to a home environment.
FANNY is very timid and sensitive around humans and it has taken a lot of work to get her to relax with me. However, letting her come around in her own time, and watching how my other animals interact with me, she has made great progress. She is such a sweet and playful girl and her true personality shows more and more every day as her confidence and trust grows. It has taken several months for her to become comfortable enough around me to give her all over body scratches wink emoticon She jumps on my bed and snuggles and will readily accept pets and scratches there.
She loves walks but must be lying down or on the bed when putting on the leash as she is hesitant when I am reaching down to her from a standing position. We are working on that! She also loves to play in the backyard and is slowly learning how to fetch a tennis ball! She loves to run and chase the other dogs around, and vice versa.
FANNY will need a lot more work for her to be completely comfortable around humans which should not take long in a family environment where she is getting lots of happy attention and love, it is just important to let her go at her own pace.
FANNY would do better in a home that has at least one other dog as this will help with her transition and confidence. FANNY also does well around small dogs and cats. I joke around that she will require a kitten in her new home! She has never shown aggression towards a human or animal, although she has begun to protection bark as is very common for any dog and also represents a growth in confidence.
FANNY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170. Our application can be found under the APPLICATION tab!
