DEMI was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care Services on 25th November 2014. She was very nervous of humans and dogs.
Since being at the rescue her confidence has built and she now loves to run and play with the other dogs, often instigating play with the younger and older dogs. She has gained confidence with humans too, although she still shows some caution, which being aloof is a German Shepherd quality. She is great when she has decided you are ok and loves to get and give as much loving as she can. I do believe that she has at some point been abused as she does cower if you walk towards her, this I am working on to show her that not all humans are bad.
DEMI would benefit from an active family who has the time and interest to spend with her taking her on adventures and working with her on basic and advanced training, something all dogs and families benefit from and need. DEMI is a smart girl and very responsive and I believe with the correct guidance and training she will pick things up very quickly. DEMI has lot of potential and is at a great age to do lots of fun activities with.
We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment on how she is with cats.
DEMI has an estimated date of birth of 24 November 2013. She is spayed, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Heart-worm tested NEGATIVE, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She is around 42.50 pounds (Nov 2014) and needs to gain a good amount of weight. He estimated average weight when fully grown "could" be around 65 pounds.
DEMI is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.
