PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO LEARN ALL ABOUT DAWN, HER LOCATION AND ADOPTION OPTIONS.
DAWN is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative (4dx), de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 3rd October 2015 and at the time of rescue weighed approximately 36 pounds.
DAWN originally came from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs generally have just 3 days to be saved before they are killed due to the thousands of stray dogs that sadly are in desperate need of life of the streets and ultimately a home of their own.
When DAWN first arrived at the rescue she was very shy and quiet, she would keep herself to herself and not interact with the other dogs. However, after a few days of decompressing, observing and realizing that she is safe in a loving, fun, environment she started to play with the other dogs and now often instigates play, wrestling and chasing around. She definitely has a lot of puppy in her and each day the more mischievous side of her comes out. DAWN gets on great with all of the dogs ranging from 6 pound chi-mixes to 95 pound German Shepherd Dogs. We do not have cats at the rescue so we are unable to say how any of our dogs would react around cats.
DAWN is very petite and does have a lot of weight to gain and some growing to do, but this will come slowly over time with a good diet, healthy, active life-style and immune support supplements to help her body catch up from the neglect and abuse it suffered at such a young age.
DAWN is extremely affectionate with humans and she will present herself for all the love and fuss that she has missed out on so far in her life and she is so happy when she gets that love and fuss, her body wags with her tail. She does get excited and jumps up and will crawl on top of you if she can, but that is just the puppy in her coming out and nothing that some training and guidance won't quickly fix.
DAWN is very responsive and eager to please, she is the perfect age for training and she will be a lot of fun to do so. We do encourage families to do at least basic and advanced training with their new dogs as this lays down boundaries and expectations and allows both humans and dog to learn and understand each others personalities and body language.
DAWN would benefit from an active, fun family that has the time to work with her on her obedience and manners, who would take her on adventures and road trips and let her explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer.
We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page!
DAWN is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

DAWN is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
