CARSON was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. Carson is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 15 July 2018. She is listed as a Lab/pit mix . We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
CARSON had been adopted in March, however, she was handed over to the animal control officer (against our policy that all dogs must come back to the rescue) because the family didn't have time for her. She had demodex mange, which is a condition that is often triggered by stress, but has been on treatment and has made a full recovery and although she was confused when she came back to the rescue she soon started enjoying playing with her friends again.
Carson is a young an energetic, happy-go-lucky confident young girl, she is great with the other dogs of all ages and sizes, living amongst dogs from 6 pound chihuahua's up to 120 pound German Shepherd Dogs. She is friendly and happy to greet people and will bark when she notices something she is unsure of.
She is a social girl and loves to explore and when ready to rest she curls up with her friends in front of the pellet stove keeping toasty warm, or relax in on the grass soaking up the suns rays. She is always happy to see people and runs in with the other dogs, tail wagging. She is young and active and will need a family that can give her a good active life, suitable for his size. .
She needs an active family and one that will keep her mind stimulated and challenged. Lots of hikes and adventures, training tricks, or agility, dock diving or other fun, active, stimulating activities would be perfect for this girl. As with all rescue's she needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with her themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so we cannot say how she would be around them.
We do not recommend dog parks especially with him being so young for several months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks.
Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks.
CARSON has a reduced adoption fee of $300 for a limited time in hopes to find her wonderful forever family.
Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
